The Vision of the NSTF is: A transformed country where science, engineering and technology (SET) and innovation contribute to a high quality of life for all who live in SA, where the profile of SET professionals is representative of the population’s profile and where the education system is effective, particularly in terms of performance in SET subjects and promoting innovation.

The NSTF-South32 Awards are one of the ways in which the NSTF realises this vision. All the Award Winners’ work contributes in some way to the realisation of this vision. The Lewis Foundation (towards a greener economy), Eskom (capacity building in engineering research), and the National Intellectual Property Management Office (for innovations and their research and development) lead to recognition of contributions that have the potential to make a positive impact on South Africa, and on the world.
