The 2018/2019 NSTF-South32 Data for Research Award was won by Professor Tandi Matsha, SARChi Chair in Cardiometabolic Health, for her work in the genomics of cardiometabolic diseases.

Matsha’s research in the cardio-metabolic risk factors in subjects of mixed ancestry was the first such research in this population group since the 1990, and revealed that international screening and assessment norms and standards were no longer accurate or adequate for this local population. Read more.
